the life of a torn bubble trying to stay afloat |
Okay, this morning started out well enough but then all hell broke loose when I got to the Ochsner parking lot. First, this stupid lady in her BMW decided to try and park in the same spot as me but illegally crossing over from a spot across the ways. So I graciously backed out (even though legally that spot was mine) and parked in the next spot over. But I was quicker to get out of my car. So here's my usual routine. I get out of the front seat, open the back door, lock all the doors, close the front door, put my car keys into my backpack (so I don't drop and lose them), put on my white coat, grab my backpack, close the door and be off on my merry way. Well, this same BMW lady, was sitting in her car for awhile, and I was so engrossed in my routine that I eventually looked over at her in the middle of putting on my white coat and I was blocking her front door (serves her right!) so I decided to be polite and I closed the door. Oh, did I mention that I had already put my car keys in my backpack and locked all the doors but did not grab my bag before closing the door? yep, that's right! My keys were locked in my car! That's what happens when a routine is broken - all hell brakes loose. So I go over and meet my classmates at the hospital hoping one of the guys has tools to unlock a locked door - no luck. So I told the chief resident my plight and she excused me from morning report to get this debacle taken care of. I called my neighbor/classmate Tristan to see if I had given him a copy of my house key - we had talked about exchanging keys for such purpose ever since he moved in but never did it - so no luck there but he did give me the number to a locksmith. So a nice lady on the shuttle ride over heard my phone conversation and told me that you don't need to have your card on hand to call and get help from AAA. So I called them and they called a locksmith but since I had no idea what the exact address was of the parking structure or the hospital itself - this was only day 2 afterall - I told them I was across the street from Ochsner Hospital on Jefferson Hwy in front of the construction site and then told her what other signs were near by - would you believe that there were unnamed cross streets? Well, believe it! Anyway, she told me to call back if no one is there in 45 minutes. Well, 45 minutes went by and no one came. Right as I was calling AAA again, this green truck with a tiny AAA sticker on the front pulls up and asks me if I need a locksmith. He then tells me that all AAA told them was that I was on Jefferson Hwy! AAA morons! Jefferson Hwy is freaking long! Why the hell did they even bother asking me for landmarks if they weren't planning on sharing such info. the guy told me that he passed by a few times and noticed that I was standing there for ever and guessed that I was the person who called. Meanwhile today it was 45 degrees and all I had to keep warm was my white coat, my mittens (shut up, you would be cold too at that temp), and what little radiative heat the sun was providing at that moment. So I missed what turned out to be a crappy morning report - my classmates got pimped alot during this session and the rest was a lecture, aka powerpoint slides being read by residents. It was sad actually since I got there in time for the last 10 minutes and it was so obvious that they printed out a speech and just read it and the powerpoint slides to us. But the good news is that I don't have to go in again until monday! yep! wednesday I can pack at a leisurely pace and run errands before I leave thursday morning.
Oh and we lost to the T1s... I wasn't really surprised but oh well. It was fun! My chief resident let me leave early to go play. I'll post the pictures later
I'm so annoyed and frustrated! The router I have has been acting freaky so I decided to reset it and see if that would help. Well, now I can't use the web encryption option and so I have no idea what to do. I think I'll try it again tomorrow since I'm too pissed to deal with it anymore today and the retard who works at the belkin support center was of no help whatsoever and probably can't tell shit from sugar. Um...yeah, it's really not considered helpful to tell a customer that there's no reason to turn on encryption just because you can't figure out what's wrong. Ugh! I got so frustrated that I considered scrapping the belkin and buying the new airport extreme basestation but then I remembered that the apple station tends to freeze up and doesn't get great covereage far from the base station and those were the reasons why I bought the belkin to begin with...that and the belkin is cheaper and until recently was working perfectly. I'm hoping tomorrow it will cooperate with me and I can turn the encryption on. Oh and I can't clone it and I think that's the big problem I'm having at the moment. Why oh why did I even bother trying to fix it!?! I want to cry.
