the life of a torn bubble trying to stay afloat

I took my surgery exam this morning. Then I went to Joe's Bar and had 2 drinks then went shopping. Oddly enough, I didn't feel drunk at all. But I waited a while before leaving just in case. I'm feeling exceptionally giddy perhaps it's because I'm a bit hypoglycemic. I'm going to eat now.

Yea! Surgery is over! Well, at least the clinical aspect is. I still have my test to take but I can get some rest tonight instead of waking up at 4:30. I'm kind of sad since I enjoyed working with the residents on the team as well as the other surgery residents I met. I'm sure there will be nice people in the medicine block but it won't be the same. Dr. Menard called me today to tell me my x-ray results. I guess she got the message late. That and I was supposed to call on monday. Oh well. I'm going to study.

So today I was grumpy at school/work. Even though I know better, I'm convinced that the nursing staff is sitting on their asses twidling their thumbs because one of my patients was very upset, as well she should be, that she had to wait over 90 minutes for someone to take care of her iv pumps that we beeping non stop over night and then the morons don't even observe simple things like a tube laying on the ground or a bag not attached to a tube. Better yet, they try to solve the problem by sticking tubes back in that have touched god knows what. Can we say not sterile?!? And so I wasn't in any mood to joke around with anyone and the tech (who made such a fuss when I called her an aide - who the hell cares if you're not doing your job!) was pushing my buttons. So since I brought my ipod with me to school, I sat there ignoring people listening to music and writing my notes. On the plus side, the hand xray came back and I didn't fracture any bones. So hopefully this pain will be gone in time for next week's game (yeah, that's right, nothing will keep me from my game). Well, we got the afternoon off so I'm going to go study outside for a bit.

We won! Yep, our flag football team finally won a game. We beat the T2s 18-13. We're not so great at the point after tries but we did pretty good for only having 8 players (we only had 6 at one point in the beginning before 2 more people showed up) against the army of T2s. I took a few elbows to the neck and side but since I tend to grab flesh and flag when I tackle, I guess it's an equal trade off. Well, time for bed.
