I went to the public library today. Actually 2 of them. The first one I went to was nearby but it was a tiny library only with books (I wanted to borrow movies and cds). So I got my library "card" there. I say "card" because in this day and age, while most library systems have plastic credit card like library cards, Jefferson Parish only uses blue businesscard like material as their library cards. Apparently plastic ones are expected in the next few months. What year is it again? 1970? Oh well, I then drove around trying to find the regional library that had the music and videos but it became apparent that it wasn't anywhere near I was driving so I went home and mapquested it and finally found it. It was a nice building. The music selection for classical was great as was the selection of eclectic music but modern music was lacking. I found 4 and borrowed those and rented 4 foreign films. I think I already saw one of them because it seemed very familiar to me. Well, I ripped the music from the CDs so if I watch the 3rd movie tonight (East/West) then I can return them tomorrow and do something else in the afternoon. I finally watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It was a good movie! I think I might buy the DVD for The Road Home. That's another Chinese Movie but it's really good.

Hmmm...not sure why I can't use Safari to make posts tonight but hopefully this will be fixed by tomorrow. If not I guess I'll have to use Internet Explorer for my blogging needs. Anyway, Today I read my book "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck. Pretty good book. I found out the other day that Oprah chose it as her first book in her bookclub thing. I'd like to read all his books. So far I've read The Red Pony, The Pearl, Of Mice and Men (my fav), Travels with Charley, and The Grapes of Wrath. But there's still many more to read like Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, Winter of Our Discontent, and the list goes on. Well, I'm going to bed. I'm trying to get to a working person's sleep-wake cycle...slowly.

Well, I got back from my vegas trip. I wasn't very lucky this trip. If I hadn't have won so much on the first trip perhaps I wouldn't have thought too much about it but oh well...My feet are tired from all the walking we did at the shopping malls we went to and then from walking around on the strip. We saw as many of the hotels as possible and took in the free shows. We also saw Mamma Mia. It was pretty good. Tori, aka Speed Racer, had fun going fast on the straight road of the freeway, something that is hard to do in hawaii. It was nice hanging out with Melissa and Tori. Melissa thinks we should go every year so we can do stuff we skipped this trip. And she missed out on her trip to J.Crew because we went to all the malls but the one with J.Crew. She thought it was at one of the other malls. Oh well...maybe I'll get her something from there for her birthday and wrap it up in target bags since we went to target and she didn't get a bag. Oh and I found the perfect color sweater for my pink paisley skirt I bought 2 months ago.
After losing some money, I decided I'd rather spend the money on fun stuff so I have something to show for my trip. I sent grandpa brummer and grandma kawahara postcards.
I also took tons of pictures and a few movies and after melissa collects all the pictures from tori and I, she's going to work on a vegas page on her site with all the good pictures. I'm going to get prints of a few of the pictures for frames. It was lots of fun! But I'm dead tired and my feet are tired as well. We only slept 4 hours each night we were there. It's a good thing the vacations hawaii people called us when we didn't show up at the meeting room or who knows what would have happened! Well, for me, perhaps nothing since my flight from vegas to dallas was delayed until 11 am because the plane had to be fixed in dallas before it took off from there. So I sat in the vegas airport and snoozed a bit (hoping no one would rob me in my slumber - nothing's missing so I'm guessing no one robbed me) from 6:30-10:30 when we finally boarded the plane. But they rebooked me at the vegas airport so I didn't have to worry about missing the flight from dallas to new orleans. Oh and the vegas airport is really obsessive about security since I had to take off my sweater and shoes to get through security. New orleans never did seem to be really security crazy but I was able to wear my sweater and shoes through the metal detector. Both have the luggage CT scans though. Someone got busted for having a REALLY REALLY nice swiss army knife. Well, that's now sitting in vegas without the owner. What happens to all those things they confiscate? Do they mail them to the owners? Not smart to bring that stuff!
Well, now I need to balance my checkbook and see the damage.
