the life of a torn bubble trying to stay afloat |
So I decided to try out apple's new browser, Safari. Not bad. It's doesn't have some of the features I like in explorer, like the ability to automatically fill in forms when the fields require standard things like my name and horribly long address. It does seem to load pages faster but I'm not entirely convinced the difference is that great. What else...oh apparently the build-a-bear workshop made a big boo-boo when sending Sherry's gift. Janine called to say that they got an animal that was addressed to peppermint from the little devil and the sound was personalized and while it wasn't nasty (as I feared), it definitely isn't something anyone but "peppermint" would enjoy. So I called the store and apparently they've been waiting since the day after christmas for me to call about the problem to do an easy exchange but since Janine and Gerard and Sherry didn't get the package until they got back from the big island, I had no idea there was a problem. Then those sillies freaked out and thought it was a bomb because of the writing on the box (the peppermint nonsense) and had it in their garage until my mom asked them about the bear I made and they figured it was the "bomb" and finally opened it and then called me about it today. Since it took so long for me to call, they just made a new bear for the other person and will be making a new bear for Sherry and I get a special gift for the inconvenience. It's probably a discount off my next purchase or something small like that. Well,I'm going to finish my clinical dx exam stuff.
One more thing. As a result of my classmates and I saying our biochem book wasn't that great, the biochem dept dropped it as the text for the class and yep, you guessed it, I now can't find anyone to buy my book. I had no strong feelings about the book since I used it and did fine but since I had biochem before, the simplicity of the text was annoying but as doctors, many of those details are unnecessary. Okay, that's it.
Hi again! I'm back at school now. The first week is wrapping up and since I overslept today, I won't be going to the first class of the day. Today I finally learn more about the eye exam. This week has been all about organization as I typed in my schedule into my palm pilot and I was disturbed to see how tiring this month will be. We have Foundations this semester so every tuesday and thursday we have classes until 4 or later! I'm getting tired just thinking about it! On the plus side, right now the part of FIM that we have now is Human behavior/psychiatry and yesterday's lectures were great. We covered basic neuroscience stuff as a review and Dr. Rodenhauser gave an hour intro to the course lecture before that. The afternoon stuff was all about Conduct disorder in kids/adolescents and ADHD. Then we had a small group discussion session on those topics. We saw a few movie clips about kids with the problems including one of Dr. Zeanah's ADHD kids and the funniest thing about that clip was watching Dr. Z's facial expression while this kid was literally running circles around him. It's interesting that amphetamines (Ritallin), which are stimulants, have a relaxing effect on kids. So...why not give your ADHD kid caffeine? It was rather disturbing that we were laughing at things that weren't necessarily funny but actually sad. Defense mechanism? perhaps but we haven't studied that yet.
