the life of a torn bubble trying to stay afloat |
Wow! Could it really have been that long since I last posted something? Well, nothing much has happened except finishing my neuroscience course. The final exam (not comprehensive, thank god!) was monday morning and then afterwards I went shopping. Well, not really. I just returned some stuff and then went looking at paint colors. My friends are painting the rooms in their new place and well, I decided I wanted to add color to my place too (don't worry mom and dad, my friend Amber was a professional house painter for 2 whole weeks). I'm looking at this light pastel blue with a hint of lavender for my room since blues tend to be calming and I definitely want that feeling as I pass out from studying next year. Depending on the cost, I may paint the living room this light green that has a blueish tint to it. Can you tell I like the color blue? From my painting research I did when I should have been studying physiology, I learned that using light pastels makes it easier to use different colors in different rooms because the colors don't clash as much. Plus most of you know I'm not into the bold colors. I also decided to go with an eggshell finish since it's flat when viewed head on but it has a sheen when viewed at an angle. It also cleans up better than plain flat paints and has a soothing appearance. Just my luck that the exact color I want is the expensive Laura Ashley line but since I went crazy and grabbed every single paint chip with any blue, lavender, or green hues, I discovered that there is a cheap alternative! Besides, you only pay for the name when you buy those designer paints. In fact, the tints are usually added to the regular paints anyway. I also want to paint the ceiling the same color as the walls because one magazine that my friend Christina has said that it makes the walls appear to melt. I also read that lighter colors make small spaces appear bigger and dark colors make a huge room seem cozy. Don't ask me anything about the GI tract since it's obvious that I know more about painting at this moment.
